Moonshine salmon – number one of my grilled salmon recipes. This is my favorite. It is very simple to make but interesting and tasty. This recipe was developed long time ago by Norwegian Vikings.

  • salmon filet with skin, remove all fish bones
  • lemon
  • glass of moonshine, brandy or vodka
  • marjoram, tarragon, garlic, salt

  • wooden plank, drill holes in it to attach salmon with wooden spikes. Use untreated wood.
  • wooden spikes to firm the salmon filet on a plank

Place salmon on plank. Powder with herbs and salt. Sprinkle with lemon juice, drizzle moonshine or brandy over it. Nail salmon to a plank using wooden spikes. Put the plank with salmon vertically on a grill. Alternatively you can load the plank in a fire place. Do not put it directly in to the fire. Plank should be placed aside. It’s important to heat the fish not to burn it. After 40 to 50 minutes it should be ready. Serve on plates just cut off bites of fish from plank.

Bon appetite !
